Notes on Spielberg

American film director primarily known for work in the final quarter of the 20th century

Here for this week’s New Statesman is a sort of whistlestop tour of one of the two post-Jaws strands of Spielberg’s career – his science fiction or fantasy films. I like the below photo but in fact I don’t write much about E.T., partly because it’s not my favourite, partly because it’s not that representative. I reckon Close Encounters is the cornerstone or Rosetta Stone (never really know what that is):
